For some reason I have been seeing them everywhere in fashion latley. Shoes, T-shirts, jackets, etc.

skulls have been around for ever. I've seen some of them made of piggy banks. which you can purchase at the border line of Tijuana, Mexico while waiting in line to cross the border into the USA

Skulls come and go.
Lately, they've been inspired by the "Pirates of the Carribbean" movies. I've always liked them and have a small collection of skulls of various styles in the house (plastic, glass, rubber, actual human one)...but that's just me.
The nice thing about when it is in popular style is that I can get all sorts of varieties. A little harder to do when it's not in mainstream fashion...so I'm happy right now.

I'm not too sure when they grew popular, but I have always liked skulls.
Not just skulls though
bones, skeletons, i have tattoos based around them.
I'm not too sure why it is popular now, but I like them myself, just because it represents some part of my feelings and characteristics.
