You might double-check that RAM capacity on http://www.crucial.com , using their tool. If that's the max, there really is nothing better but to upgrade motherboard.

first thing you need to do is check your max memory capacity your motherboard can take, just because it only has 2 memory banks it dosent mean you are stuck with 2gb
if you go to http://www.crucial.com/,and use the on-line scanner it will let you know the max installable memory, and what type of memory, but you will probally know that
then if your max installable memory is 4gb,you could change a 1gb module for a 2gb module(this will be expensive though),and then you will have 3gb,which is more than enough for any home use,and even enough to run "vista" with memory to spare
the memory programs are a total waste of time, especially at the amount of ram you have, these programs mess about with windows settings to free up memory, and most of the things it does you can do yourself, like disable screensavers, wallpapers, ect
i cant understand why you need more than 2gb as i only use 1.5gb and i am a seasoned windows user, and 1.5gb is more than enough for anything i throw at it
anyway i hope you sort out something
good luck

check the speed of your ram. if the max for your computer is 400, and your current ram is only 333, you could buy new ram at 400 speed, and it would swap out marginally faster. 2gb, however, should be enough. if not, try shutting down some background programs.

2 gb should really be enough, I mean if ur board only has 2 ram slots then it's likely to be so old that even if u added more RAM, the rest of the components would probably still be holding it back anyway.
