Yes..You are out of touch...Of course we all know about that silly war across the ocean..We all know Bush lied about why he went their..He still hasn't told the truth about it. He spent the last 4 years ac using us of wanting to run when that's what he did in Afghanistan...He's been doing bad in Iraq since he claimed victory and in fact has made the terrorist situation worse then when the war started. He has increased spending so much that the national debt has gone up from 6 trillion to 7 trillion dollars. That''s 15%. This country is a mess. The distance between those that have and those that don't is bigger than ever and getting worse... Health insurance is unaffordable to most people...Discontent among Americans is rampant, coming from an administration that promised to bring Americans together....Bush will go down in history as one of the worst presidents ever

There's all kinds of reasons America rejected Republicans... A big issue that is often overlooked is veterans rights... you would think the party that promotes Big Military would be thankful to it's veterans and deliver on the benefits it promised them... We were so wrong... both my parents are veterans, retired, on social security, they are sinking fast. When it comes to health care they practically have to fight to get an appointment at the VA. They can barely afford rent, utilities, or keep up one decent car. They have served their country with pride in the Korean and Vietnam wars, and then all they get for thanks is an ungrateful government that does away with social programs that they unfortunately need to survive. The minimum wage hasn't been raised in this country for 10 years but we've been experiencing horrible inflation. They still have the same income they had 15 years ago. They're old, they can't work anymore, and Republicans don't seem to give a ****. My parents aren't the only people out here in this situation. Your "compassionate conservatism" campaign was a load of crap. And, we also know that this "War on Terror" is a load of crap.

Because most Republicans forgot what being conservative is all about. Pork spending was up 1000% under the Republicans. Democrats in conservative districts TALKED a great game, but will not deliver.

When Republicans run as conservatives in national elections, they win. See 1980 and 1994. When they run as moderates they lose: Bush in 1992 is the most recent example.

When Democrats run as the liberals they are they lose: Dukakis, Mondale, and the list goes on and on.

Republicans took out liberal Republicans in OH and RI. They took out crooked Congressman. This was a shot at Republicans. Democrats were in the right place at the wrong time.

The main reason was Iraq. In some areas of the Midwest (Ohio, Michigan, etc) it was the economy. Those that have answered corruption are just blind. Every administration or legislature has corruption. One big thing is in this mid term election, the missive "All politics are local." flew out the window. Iraq was on voter's minds because:
1. The basic reason for our involvement was wrong.
2. We've been there too long.
3. As a result of 2, it has cost way too much.
4. Making 3 worse is the contracts that were way out of line, missing material, "missing" money.

Seeing the still slow response in rebuilding after Katrina didn't help either, as people look at that, and think, "What if a catastrophe happened here?"

I don't believe that ALL Conservatives are "That Outta Touch". Unfortunately too many of those in the present Administration who were responsible for making important decisions, are in fact out of touch with the majority of Americans. That was made clear on Nov 7th.
Rejection was mainly due to very little or no progress in Iraq, the loss of so many young Americans and thousands of innocent Iraqis, the growing deficit, the growing global disdain for the country, AND a very inflexible, egotistical attitude from the top Re-pubs.
Just hang in there, cause the Dems will be next to disappoint the voters and many may be shown the door in a few years. The cycle repeats itself every 8-12 years or so, with little real progress.
Time for another Boston Tea Party.

The inability of George Bush and the Republicans to manage the war in an effective manner. That's the main reason. The scandals that rocked the Republican Party the weeks before the election had quite an effect as well. If there were any moderates or independents still walking the fence that pushed them off into Democrat territory.

The elected ones are. Same with the limousine liberals. Few, if any, in Washington are in touch with mainstream America.

I challenge you to name one politician who is indicative of the mean (average) in America - last years income $53,604 (the average per capita income in the US), female (there are more females than males in the US), small homeowner (the average US home is 1887 square feet with 6 rooms).

The main reason America rejected the "conservatives" that were running (notice the quotes) was not the war, as many pundits say, but the need for a change.

On the Iraq war I'd say yes, why, you can't make a total mess of something that is getting people killed and say everything is great people as a whole do some stupid things but they do catch on after awhile.

Debt - gee I'm a rep. because I think or thought they could do a better job of controlling things. Wrong

Corruption same
Appoint qualified people - same

I don't know are you out of touch? Sure as he.. something is wrong.

Republicans could not stop growing the government, contrary to their constituents wishes. If they had embraced the Fair Tax and campaigned with a "contract with America" like in 1994, this could have been prevented!

I think McCain explained it best "we promised America we will end corruption and create a smaller government, we created a bigger government." Republicans stray away from their core values. Also, it didn't help with the Foley, Allen, Abramoff, and Iraq war.
