Ok, here's why there's such confusion.
#1 - there has been no official release date set yet
#2 - Bungie and microsoft have both stated that the game will DEFINATELY be released next year.
#3 - Orignally, Bill Gates himself officially announced that Halo 3 would be ready when the PS3 hit's the market, but that was a couple of years ago, and not accurate.
#4 - Bungie traditionally releases their games in November.
#5 - The mid/early spring release of the Halo 3 Beta Multiplayer is designed to give Bungie test data to allow them to improve the multiplayer for Halo 3.. That will take several months to get data, analyse it, make any changes to multiplayer, and get the changes onto the master game discs before the game is printed..
#6 - Gamestop has gone on record as saying that they needed an official release date in-order to begin pre-orders for the game. They decided to use the Halo movie's release date. (original release date.. but the movie's been pushed back to Spring, 2008) Gamestop does NOT know Bungie's release date for the game.

No it's coming out in june 2007, but Microsoft is gonna release a Demo of it in around march, but the final version will be in june

Microsoft has not announced an official release date, but according to GameStop, it will be released in November of 2007.

it was originally to hit the market when the ps3 came out.
