I have heard of this in the past few weeks. I don't know much about it. I don't understand why someone would want several accounts, unless they are cheating. If a person is already cheating, by asking and answering their own questions, then what difference would it make if they gave themselves best answer?
Sorry I am asking a question aren't I?

I would guess that they have multiple accounts so that their main account doesn't get deleted for all the violations, they are trying to gain points on one of their other accounts, so ppl don't know who they are, or maybe they want to bombard Y!A and shut it down. Why do you?

It's called Adjustment Disorder. It is an abnormal and excessive reaction to an identifiable life stressor. The reaction is severe and excessive compared with what would normally be expected to such stressors, and, or, results in impaired functioning. The response is linked to one or many stressors. The stressor may be a single event (a flood or fire, marriage, divorce, starting school, new job) or may occur often (child witnessing parents constantly fighting, chemotherapy, financial difficulties). Blah blah, however: Adjustment Disorder often occurs with one of the following: depressed Mood (patient is tearful, sad, hopeless); anxiety (patient is nervous, fearful, worried); mixed anxiety and depressed mood; disturbance of conduct (patient violates rules or rights of others); mixed disturbance of emotions and conduct; unspecified (problems related to job, physical complaints, social isolation). Adjustment disorders are associated with higher risk of suicide and suicidal behavior; substance abuse; prolonging of other medical disorders or interference with their treatment. Adjustment disorder that persists may progress to become a more serious mental disorder (major depressive disorder).
The symtoms of Adjustment disorder are:
# Hopelessness
# Frequent crying
# Depressed mood
# Impaired occupational/social functioning
# Insomnia
# Agitation
# Trembling or twitching
# Somatic complaints (general aches and pains, stomachache, headache, chest pain)
# Palpitations
# Conduct disturbances
# Physical complaints
# Withdrawal
# Anxiety, worry, stress, and tension
Or, he/she may possibly have: Borderline personality disorder (BPD) ...It is a serious mental illness characterized by pervasive instability in moods, interpersonal relationships, self-image, and behavior. This instability often disrupts family and work life, long-term planning, and the individual's sense of identity. Originally thought to be at the "borderline" of psychosis, people with BPD suffer from emotion regulation. While less well known than schizophrenia or bipolar disorder (manic-depressive illness), BPD is more common, affecting 2 percent of adults, mostly young women. There is a high rate of self-injury without suicide intent, as well as a significant rate of suicide attempts and completed suicide in severe cases. Patients often need extensive mental health services, and account for 20 percent of psychiatric hospitalizations. Yet, with help, many improve over time and are eventually able to lead productive lives.
I don't know much about BPD though, so I can't tell more than that, sorry. Hope I helped!!

What's the point of that. I wouldn't do it. I just have fun answering questions not trying to earn the most points.

Those are the people who think that the points are actually worth something. By the way, this question is such a waste of 5 points.
