Most PS2 and PS1 games will play on the PS3, but there are some that have issues. The ones that use the PS2 hard drive will not work on the PS3 initially, but Sony is planning on releasing software that will allow those games to play. Even the slim PS2 isn't fully backwards compatible.

Just like the PS2 is able to play the PS1 games, same thing applies, The PS3 is able to play all earlier models of games.

Of the 8000 plus games in the library they say it is a small percentage that can't play on the PS3- Yahoo tech did a report on this and said that they hope with the fact that it can be connect to the internet a patch will be available for games that don't play.

Yes it can. Sony as comfirmed that it can play all PS1 and PS2 games. Some games may be incapatible at the momment though. Sony plans to allow future updates though that you can download on to your console for free that will allow you to play all PS1 and PS2 games.

Supposedly it can but the first 500,000 or so I hear have some bugs, so I would wait to get one if you want to play ps1 and ps2 games on it...

Yes the PS3 can play all Ps games...there are still some bugs to iron out. It can also play movies and music and Ipods...if ya wanted ta know..lol
