How long is a (new) cell phone battery supposed to last before it needs to charged?

Completely depends on the battery! Many different strengths of batteries are sold with talk time anywhere between 2.5 hours to 8 hours talk time, or up to 6 days stand by time. If you still have to box that your phone came in, you can usually find the specs. on the side of the box. You can also check online by looking for your specific phone model's specs. The first time a batterie is used the life of the charge is relatively shorter than all other times because it is just then being activated. It can last between 6 hours and 2 days.

Depending on brand, they can last for 2 full days without being charged or 6 hrs non stop talking.
