They are 8 and 4 and both girls. They like the other bond films, but having not seen it I am a little concerned that they may find it too violent.

I don't think it would be appropriate at all. It is much more gritty and realistic than previous Bond movies. There is a torture scene involving a naked Bond getting his b*ll*cks tortured big time.

The violence is said to be more realistic than in past films, and includes a naked Bond having his privates whipped by the villain (a scene taken from the book). I don't think even an eight year-old should see that, never mind a four year-old. When I was younger my parents made me wait to see things like Jaws and The Godfather, and in the long run I didn't mind.

The official line from the BBFC for a 12A rating, which this Bond is, is that the absolute minimum age of any child should be no lower than 8. Mark Kermode concurs with this.

it's a violent film and quite unlike previous Bond movies. I loved it. Daniel Craig is brilliant and the film is gripping from start to finish. Watch it yourself but don't take your children.

Go and see it yourself and if you like it wait till it comes out on video and then show it the kids and you can fast forward the more violent bits

Hell no! Boycott the movie. He needs to be retired and start a new franchise with James Bond Jr as the new 007.

I would say they were a bit young. Get it on DVD when its released and see what you think first. I would imagine the 4 year old would get bored.
