How do you get ringtones?

I downloaded ringtones to my phone to assign to diffrent people who call well its not working I have been through my phone numerous times with no luck can someone PLEASE help me to figure out when the phone rings it won't play that song. Its a samsung t629.. TIA

I make my own on my laptop using Windows Movie Maker and transfer them to my cell phone via IR. I then set it as the ringtone, or edit a contact to use it for only that person.
