So you're not 100% just for graphics then. Then you should go with the wii 100%. Anyone who thinks the ps3 is better is a fool. I say this because i'm an advocate for innovation. Yes the controller for the Wii is innovative, but thats just the tip of the spear that Nintendo holds in its arsenal. I would say go to the Wii website. Take 5 min. to look around. After this i'm sure that you will know what the right path would be.
As for the ps3.... In my opinion wich I have obtained through research on both sides of the competition, '' Garbage'' Don't you think it's funny how must people for the ps3 speak only of it's graphic power? I like only one thing about it and that's the bluray drive. But it's to soon to count on bluray to be the next standard. Hd dvd is at the time still better and more advanced. Bluray just holds more info wich is beyond the needs right now.
Nintendo has one area of concern, Sony has many. My only hope is that there is not as many foolish people at there as I sometimes think there might be. Nintendo enjoys the game market and is envolved with it in a handshake relationship. Sony banks on it and plays it for money.
It is your decision and everyone else's as well. I hope this helps to make it an easier one though.
With as much thought that has gone into the Wii,
It's no wonder the Wii is superior!

The Wii is better. The PS3 does have really good graphics but for the time being it's too expensive and too hard to get one. There are also many glitches and problems found since Sony had to rush to make the most PS3's they could before the launch. The Wii has a cool new motion sensing controller for smoother movements during gameplay. There are alot of good games for the launch as well like Zelda: Twilight, the game I want the most.

You can read about the specifics at any major gaming site (such as www.gamespot.com), but to me it comes down to graphics vs. interaction. The best games by third party game makers (like Madden football) will come out on all 3 systems. The only thing you'll miss is the detail of the PS3's HD abilities.

However, the Wii games cannot come out on the other systems. Things like Zelda and Wii Sports just can't translate to systems that can't do the interactivity of the Wiimote and Nunchuck. I think that advantage is huge to me since I don't plan on buying an HD TV and don't care enough about graphics anyway.

ok in case you propose xbox lke the xbox 360 then: Xbox 360, wii, and Ps3 causes: Ps3 has staggering pictures, yet their controller sucks horribly i'd like the ps3 so much better in the journey that they didnt have this style of dumb controller. Wii is an magnificent variety of party play device when you consider that many of their video games contain better than one individual. with the occasional exception of metroid, and crash bandicoot. Xbox 360 is the finest of the three when you're searching for hardcore gaming. Microsoft has such lots of further video games out than sony. Plus th halo sequence is largely on xbox and xbox 360 gaming structures. Plus the contollers structure on your hand. The pictures are almost as reliable because the ps3. wish this facilitates (I personal both an xbox 360 and a wii)

definitely the wii, the ps3 is more or less an updated ps2 with better graphics a faster processor and all that crap which makes a game look better but not neccessarily more enjoyable, the wii has changed the way games are played, and plus the ps3 has tried to steal some wii design with the SIXAXIS controller but it essentially its still a system that uses the primitive controller to press buttons to control ur character.

If all he cares about are graphics, the PS3 will always be better in his mind. However, if he actually wants to actually play games in a new way, instead of watc games in a new way, it's all about the Wii.

Graphics whores are poor excuses for video gamers in my book. A game as simple as Pong or Tetris can still supply hours and hours of fun and they look very simple. It's about how much you enjoy playing the game, how addicting the game play is, not how much sweat you can see on the characters face. If that's your thing, go watch a frickin' movie.

here in Ohio were there are heavy snows in the winter Wii will be great, we can still golf, play tennis and more with out having to shovel the snow to get out. I have the older Ps so the Wii seems more intovatiting.

The Wii yes changes the way we play games, but the GAMES are the most important thing, not the console, I personally will play any FUN game regardless on what system it is on.
