To me, Urlacher is the obvious choice but many racists will say otherwise...

Who's the best linebacker in the NFL right now? Obviously, It's Brian Urlacher when he is healthy. He is just an amazing athlete, and his instincts are amazing. He has awesome power, and he is so consistent!!!!!!! He has great help, with the rest of the Bears top ranked D. Until someone else shows up, no one will be better. Quarterbacks stay up at night having nightmares about this man

As far as middle linebackers, Urlacher is the best at the moment. He is, however, no where near as good as some middle linebackers have been in the past. Ray Lewis in his prime was better than Urlacher could ever hope to be, but he's getting old and he's lost a step. The thing about Urlacher is that he's not great at any one thing, there're are better coverage linebackers out there (Edwards comes to mind), and there are better pressure middle linebackers out there (Fletcher, Lewis even now), but Urlacher is the most complete middle linebacker in the league at the moment, he's a good player, but compare him to some of the greats of the past and he doesn't stack up.
