try a sofa saver. I have used in the past and it worked great. It goes under the cushions.

Start out with a 3/4" piece of plywood or particle board. Cut this to fit exactly under your cushions and on top of the frame structure of the sofa. Go to the fabric shop and buy some thick foam to replace the foam in your cushions. With a three cushion sofa this method should cost no more than $35 and a bit of your own labor.

You could always put a cut out piece of wood under there but make sure that you cover it where no one would ever know and maybe you could buy some padding for the crafts dept. in wal-mart and fill your cushions thicker and that will make them fuller and no one should know that you did that. It will work because the wood under there want let the couch sink and then you will have fuller cushions also.

If your cushions are removable, you may just want to replace the foam that's in there. Go to Hobby Lobby and you can get this foam. It is specifically made for furniture and you can get it in various thicknesses so you can replace virtually any height of cushion. That is more cost-effective than replacing your sofa, particularly if you like it and that was the only thing wrong with it.
If all else fails, you may just want to check out www.craigslist.com for your area and check the freebies section.

plywood, 3/4 inch.
or if you are too poor for that, anything you can stuff under there.
I wanted to make some permanent couches out of trees.
My wife bought some for $3000 instead. Mine would have cost like $200 for cushions and would have been nicer.
You can get them in the trash too, or from thrift stores for like $50 sometimes. A roommate and noticed a nice one in the trash once and we exchanged it with ours.

Hello:
Yes, try placing a long and thick sheet of foam underneath the cushions. That will give it support and some give.
Good luck.

If you would like to live ghetto-style you could turn your couch into a chest to keep your spare blankets and quilts in which raises the cushion and also provides storage ;)

Sure! Have an upholsterer wrap the cores in polyester batting sheet. He can then make inexpensive white cambric covers for them so when you reinstall the casings they'll just slip on.
