Internet Protocol Address. It uniquely identifies your computer on the Internet (or other network). It's kind of like a phone number for your computer.

IP Address The numeric address of a computer connected to a TCP/IP network, such as the Internet. The II address is made up of 4 octets of 8-bit binary numbers that are translated by the computer into their shorthand numeric values; for example, 11000000.10101000.00000100.00 =192.168.4.26. IF addresses must be matched with a valid subnet mask, which identifies the part of the IP address that is the network ID and the part that is the host ID.

Hello:
An IP address (Internet Protocol address) is a unique address that devices use in order to identify and communicate with each other on a computer network utilizing the Internet Protocol standard (IP). Any participating network device — including routers, computers, time-servers, printers, Internet fax machines, and some telephones — can have their own unique address.

An IP address is an internet protocol address. Basically it is an address that assigns to a host such as a computer, a modem, a switch, and a router etc............
Think of it as a street address, for example, 1234 South Ave, that's an address of a house, it assigns a house and identify the locatino of it. An ip address takes the form of 24.5.4.3, that's the address of a computer or a host in a network .

IP = Internet Protocol and is a unique identifier for each computer account on the internet. An analogy would be that its like a mail box with the postal service and the postal person knows where to deliver your mail. You are assigned an IP through your service provider and this is how people are tracked down for things like illegal music downloading.

a hexadecimal expression that is the "address" of your PC. It can be hard-coded or DHCP, in which case it would change every day or so.....This is a loaded question....I would read the OSI layers again....TCP/IP too...
good luck :>
