I have Anti-Virus SBC Yahoo! Online Protection...
I had a pop-up (not like the AD kind!) that showed me i have 3 infected items in my computer. one is deleted and other two status's say Infected. it also says " you must reboot not to permanently clean infected items.
do i really have to reboot? and is rebooting just restarting the computer or deleting then restarting the WHOLE entire computer and losing all my files?

Hi Emily,

Yes rebooting=shutting down & restarting your computer. You can also go to internet explorer click on tools then options-there delete files, offline files, clear history & delete all those stale cookies. I'd also add Ad-A-Aware like a virus scanner & then you can delete all the virus things yourself. Or better yet buy a anti-virus cd.
Good luck & have a good day!

Rebooting is the shutting down and restarting your computer. When an antivirus progarm says that it needs to reboot to finish cleaning a file this is because the file is a system file that is in use and can't be cleaned without crashing the system. On reboot the infected file can be cleaned before it is used by the system.
