I believe this was settled 121 years ago. The north did not believe in slavery (while at the same time it had many indentured servants). The south did not feel it was any of the north's business in what type of labor they used. The north was industrialized, the south was farms and plantations. At one point in the war, the north wanted to take the no slavery part off the table, but the south was pretty irritated with the Norths buttinsky attitude and let them know, the real issues were not about slavery.

Why bring up an ugly and sad event that ended long ago? What good does it do? We know the chaos and sorrow it caused. We hopefully have learned from it and moved on. It causes so much hurt today whenever it is brought up. Can't we just let the past be the past?
