Understandably it is up to the states, and Congress would withold highway funds if they do, but this is just a hypothetical to gather your opinions. Why or why not should the drinking age be lowered? Thanks!

Yes it should. The legal drinking age being 21 does not prevent under age kids from drinking. I drank more when I was under 21 than when I turned 21. If you are a legal adult, and can gamble, join the military, sign a contract, and get married you should be able to legally drink. The problem is not drinking the problem is ones lack of self control.

No, and I am one of the ones who had the drinking age at 18 and it was changed to 19 halfway through my 18th year. 9 months ater I turned 19 it went up to 21. I feel that if you serve in the military there should be an exception, but other than that it should remain 21.

Drunk driving accidents and the incidence of drinking by younger teens was higher when the legal drinking age was 18. I believe the benefit, being consistent about granting adult rights at a certain age, is negligible when compared to the heavy cost in ruined or destroyed lives.

Only for soldiers. They can fight for our country, they can have a drink then. But the regular drinking age should stay 21. I have had many friends die because of irresponsible drinking and driving. I miss my friends. Soldiers under the age of 21 should be able to drink when they are off base or on leave. God knows they fight for us they can have a drink!

No, I had to wait until I was 21 so everyone else should too. I wasn't lucky enough to have someone older buy it for me before I was 21. I think if you're in the military you should be able to drink at 18.

I think it should be lowered to 16, but with the condition that 16-20 year olds could not buy as much alcohol that would intoxicate the average 16-20 year old, that way teens cold get the alcohol they want, and local governments could get the relative safety they want for the teens.

I drank when I was much younger it was all right in Europe to do so.
Why is there such a big deal here in this country about alcohol? I don't understand that. If a person can fight in the military at age eighteen, that person is old enough to drink alcohol.

Being 18, well, it doesn't really matter what age the drinking age is....

It is pretty easy to get anyone's hands on alcohol if they wanted to.

It does not matter what the drinking age is, young people always manage to get hold of alcohol.

No, just because 18 year olds are going to drink anyway does not mean we should give them free rein to do so
