No one has figured out why we think things are cute or beautiful or pretty. One idea that is my favorite is that cuteness arose in an effort to prevent us from doing harm to the cute thing. It is much harder to kick a cute little puppy than an ugly mangey one. So maybe whatever it is that makes us think furry things are cute make you think that pigeons are cute. Or maybe you just happen to like pigeons (rock doves if you want to get technical) and that just happens to be different than a lot of other people. Cuteness is still being worked out scientifically, but for now, who cares what you consider cute, if its cute to you, then its cute period.

Something being 'cute' is a very personal contrivance of attraction which involves how a person perceives something. There have been suppositions posed in some psychological literature that there may be a 'gene' combination for what we think is 'cute'.

However, just because I see something as cute there is no guarantee that others do -- and just because you see something as cute there's nothing stating that others see the same thing in the same way.

Ideally, enough people think some things are cute enough to buy them -- say a 'cute pair of shoes' or a 'cute puppy' and marketing people pretty much rely on that fact.

I think it's all a set of sensory perceptions which boil down to a fond memory or an endearing scenario ... or just the fact that something has features which appear to the aesthetic sense of the person looking at it.

Be all this as it may suffice it to say that 'cuteness' is in the eye of the beholder. Not everybody thinks the same thing is cute and it is this difference between individuals that makes up part of the 'spice of life'.

An animals perceived level of 'cuteness' depends on a persons understanding of the species or group of animals. For example, most people wouldn't consider many reptile species cute but as I've been studying them for a long time they became more endearing than they would normally have done!? Hence Steve Urwins love of Crocs. And vice versa, the less a person understands an animal group say spiders, the greater the likelihood ignorance or fear will colour their thoughts.

attractive, esp. in a dainty way; pleasingly pretty: a cute child; a cute little apartment. It all depends on what you find pleasing, and as for the scientific answer, am sorry we haven't have much information as to how our minds work, but we'll have some pretty soon :)

I think that's just your opinion and the way you see things in life.
