I work in a governmental office and although smoking there is forbidden by law, no one seems to mind.
Is there anything to do against it, without losing my job?

That's very serious. They're endangering your health and they could start a fire. Make an anonymous report to your State Labor Bureau.

well i myself think its a pointless law , people use tobacco to help with stress , and what is the one place where you get stressed out the most ? WORK , so if people can't smoke at work there is gonna be alot of people trying to choke customers and stuff , but if you have a problem with whats going on , i would suggest talking to a manager or someone in charge . its illegal to fire someone for speaking their mind , so let them know whats goin on , just be nice about it !

what sort of idiot believes that smoking "relieves stress." I guess heroin and having sex does too, so why dont we all do that at work. Go on line I'm sure there is some type of government "tip line," and, of course, call them from a pay phone.

There is an anomynous hot line available, and believe it our not, I think you can get the number on either Phillip Morris's or RJ Reynolds' web site.

OSHA would be another place to call.
