Only from a vitamin C deficiency (scurvy), obtained through proper feeding of veggies. Sometimes they can recover through feeding and vitamin C regiments. The teeth usually will, but may not grow back He needs to be hand fed for awhile, with a feeding Synge, and substance called nutri-cal the vet will have. 45mg of vita men C (ONCE A DAY), mixed with baby food ( spinach) mixed with guinea pig pellets to keep some timothy hay in it's system. Water may have to be hand fed also if their gums are sore. SEE A VET!! Look up scurvy on these webs, and read them to see what kind of care it takes to keep him healthy.
My piggies are all over 6 years old. They take a lot of special care.

Yes, you should probably take him to the vet, and ASAP!!! Especially if he is a child's pet; kids can be very sensetive to death or illness of a pet...now stop reading this answer and drive yourself, your son, and the poor piggie to an emergency 24/7 animal clinic. GO!!!
