why is it cruel to put xlax in something to prank some friends and/or family???

Well, because it isn't messing with their head, which is what a prank is meant to do -- it's messing with their body, in a way you can't know the impact. Sure, you might think you'll be inconveniencing them a bit, but you don't know how their body will experience it. Exlax is a laxative - which is a medicine - and so to give that to someone without their permission is to poison them. You are creating a menace in their bodily function that they would be unable to control - especially if they don't have the luxury of being at home with clear access to the bathroom.
You know, one has to wonder about the thought process that is behind wanting to do such an extreme prank. You must really, truly have some issues with that person, or with yourself, to be willing to inflict that much "crap" into another's life. Think before you do it. I think you probably could be arrested for it.

Because xlax is a medicine for constipation - it's very cruel to unknowingly give someone a medicine for a problem they don't have. It'd be like giving a guy a birth control pill!

How would you like it if all the sudden you had to crap so bad that you could hardly make it to the bathroom; or worse you don't make it? You wouldn't. That's why it's cruel. Hope someone gets you with a dose of your own medicine. Literally.

Do you mean exlax, the laxatives? I can see why you'd do it as a prank and not to be mean, but it causes the person to have excess diahrrea.
Laxatives can eventually kill you if you are addicted to them and some people with eating disorders have that.
