why is there mesquito larvae in your tank now
1 its too cold for mesquitos
2 mesquito larvae likes dirty stagnant water which means your filter is not working if you have one on it and your not changing your turtles water enough
i live in mesquito capitol texas and have never had a problem with larvae in my turtle tanks or any of my pets water. i have a bird bath that if i leave it dirty for more than a month in the summer i will have them in there but if cleaned more often than that i dont.
ive never had a problem with them in my pond either but nonetheless i would get a brine shrimp net and strain all your water through that to get all larvae out and do a half water change.
if you dont feel like doing that as long as you have a filter on your tank petco sells a thing called mesquito torpedo you will have to break this in peices to use it in a tank as small as you got.

ok this is gross. This tank should be scrubbed. sparkling the gravel and scrub all of the failings in the tank. Then whilst placing the tank returned up positioned a teaspoon of salt consistent with gallon of water. this might kill the insects that are nonetheless there and additionally kill any in the event that they're one the turtles. i might additionally scrub the tank itself down with salt. that's an abrasive and could kill any eggs that are on the glass. good success

Usually turtles eat them. It is also a sign that there may be a glitch in the basic cares, so you may wish to review them at a good website like http://www.austinsturtlepage.com

You can also just empty the tank, clean everything, and refill or just plain scoop'em out.

The gold fish thing works great, really it does, and if your tank is that dirty you dont need to be owning a turtle. if your turtle is a hatchling i am suprised it wouldnt be eating them, they love little bugs, and blood worms and so forth!
