That is a personal preference. You just have to try some and see what you like. It should be reasonably easy to use and comfortable. If you only use one every now and then, go for about any can opener. If you have weak hands use an electric.
There is a type of can open that cuts the side instead of the top. It leaves a nice edge which is not sharp. It is considered safer than the type which cuts the top of the can. It takes some getting used to. Also, if you accidentally let it slip, it won't work at all on that can. With the type which cuts the top, it can slip and sometimes still work with use of more force on the handle.

The hand held type of can opener that cuts around the side of the can, rather than the top, uses very little effort.

Feel the comfort and the handle padding first.

I really prefer a $10 electric opener.

the best manual can opener...in my humble opinion...is the one made by OXO....it has soft grips so it is easy to hold onto and it is heavier weight than most. does a great job...doesn't kill your hand and you can put it in the dishwasher to wash away any build up on the cutter.....and they are inexpensive...good luck
