Why do people ask questions that they can easily get answered by typing one word into a search engine and reading one of the links that come up?

Honestly... go to google. Type Mayan into the search field. Then click on the first link you see.

It will tell you immediately about them and who knows, you may learn something new.

The Mayans were in the central America area of North America - just below Mexico. One can see many of the Temple and ruins in certain cities in Central America. The sad thing about there demise was that the Spanish Conquistadors burnt most of there books, buildings, etc. They were a very advanced people - there calendar was of 13 months with 28 days each. They were light years ahead of every other civilization of there time. There calendar goes up to 2012 and then ends - what will happen then?

Think of the Mayans, Incans and Aztecs as three branches from the same tree in Central and South America.

Aztecs....Mexico Proper into the borders of current day South America.

Incans...Peru Proper along the Pacific Coast of South America along the Andes Mountains

Mayans...ever heard the town of Cozumel? A favorite resort and tourist place for those that can afford to visit out of country areas. Mostly around the Yucatan Penninsula...somewhat contained to that area alone.
