1.5 chickens lays 1.5 eggs, thus 1 chicken lays 1 egg as there is a 1:1 correspondence.
1 chicken lays 1 egg in 1.5 days, so 1:1.5 is .6:1, one chicken will lay .6 or 2/3 of an egg in one day.

1 1/2 chickens laying 1 1/2 eggs in 1 1/2 days is the same as saying that 1 chicken lays 1 egg in 1 1/2 days. Since one chicken lays one egg in 3/2 days, she must be laying an average of the reciprocal, or 2/3, eggs per day.

Hehe - "1" is the tempting answer, but not correct. 3 chickens would lay 3 eggs in 1-1/2 days, so 3 chickens would lay 6 eggs in 3 days, so 1 chicken would lay 2 eggs in three days, so therefore one chicken lays an average of 2/3 of an egg per day. Or mathematically, the solution is:
1.5/1.5/1.5 = 2/3
Cute question

I am really SORRY but i just have to say this , there no such thing as an alive 1/2 chicken , just the dead ones and i pretty much know that they can't lay eggs because they're um ... dead .
But in you asked something similiar to like ex : if somebody sold 1 and 1/2 chicken in half a day and got 1/2 of 100 dollars or should i say 50 dollars , how much would would this person get in
for 12 hours ( half a day ) and 3 days ?
Now that i would understand ... oh and if you make another math problem using croncrete , alive or real animals or alive things , don't use fractions , because they just can't be 1/2 or 3/2 or any fractional numbers it's like having half a cow , the live one , cut in half and still live !!!! ( now that would be creeeeeeepy !? )
Well goodbye and thanks for the question .

1 1/2 chicken, 1 1/2 egg, 1 1/2 days. The ratio of chickens to eggs to days is 1.5 : 1.5 : 1.5 (which is equivelent to 1 : 1 : 1). So, since it takes the extra half a day for the half of a chicken to lay half of an egg, I think that it is safe to state my answer:
As long as the chickens are hens that are able to lay eggs, in one day, a chicken will lay one egg.
