I always rubbed my baby's back, gently but firm, to push the gas up, then patted her back, back and forth until she burped. They don't burp every time.

I burped my baby the way the hospital taught me. I sat her on my knee tilted forward a little with my hand under her chin and holding her cheast. And tapp her back with my other hand. My grandmother however!!! Said I that would put a bruise on her bottom. But the other way, with the baby on your sholder, it puts pressure on her tummy and I think i remember the nurses saying the baby has a tendency of falling asleep and the baby has to be burped before falling asleep! There are other ways to burp your baby though! use this link to see other ways! GOOD LUCK

My sister and I say, of course there is the good old put them on your sholder and pat. Or you can sit their botttom on your leg and sit the baby up by holding in front of him, pat keep in mind that you dont exactly pat in the middle of the back but more up between the sholder blades. Not too hard though, another thing to do is lightly bounce the baby as you pat this helps work the burp up, NOT too fast or you'll work up a whole lot more, ewww!

lay her tummy in your hand and kind of laying in your lap and use your other hand to gently but hard enough to burp her. I like having the baby on my should to burp them though. either way is good. if she won't burp hold them so they are standing and let it kind of stretch out there body and that should get the burp loose enough to try again and burp them. Good luck and congrats, i wish my kids were that small again.

I would burb my son by placing him in a sitting postion on my leg, and then use my left hand to support his JAW, and use my right hand to gently pat his back. He was slightly leaned forwarded..as to put pressure on his stomach. That was one of several ways I used. Or placed in laying down over both my legs, and patted his back. Or over my shoulder. If he/she is really gassing, just moving them from one position to the other can make a world of difference. My son was colicly from 1-3 months of age (he's 21 months now), and doing the above seemed to soothe him..he was so gassy then you could FEEL the gas bubbles by touching his tummy. Hope this helps.

You should hold the baby against your chest and rub the back in a circular motion, until she/he burps. Works everytime and feels much better than slapping on the back!
