Yes but are not supposed to have to excess. On the other hand, I am quite certain I have seen one having a few pints in before opening his mouth for tele audience. One was never seen again, I think he used the term "it was fun, but now I am sacked.'

Oh, can you imagine it if they were! Or if they are, if they took it to extremes. A Royal wedding and the commentators are absolutely rip-roaring drunk, laughing and giggling over the colour of the bridesmaid's shoes and telling mother-in-law jokes.
Or the FA cup, and they're totally plastered, cursing the referee and players in colourfully unintelligible hilarity.
