I know that this might sound kinda dumb so im a first time mom and have no clue. i want to take my newborn with me shopping but the only problem is her plus her car seat are way to heavy to carry all around how do you put a car seat in a shopping car ?

You can take your baby shopping; there are baby front carriers like a back pack but baby is in the front of you (just get one that is not too complicated to use) baby is the front of you where he can sleep and your arms are free ; also, this time of year flu season, you should limit the exposure to the public during those times unless you can't alternate with your husband; a newborn baby needs to build up some resistance to germs; so it is nice to go out but perhaps you could use this time for some me time and have someone watch the baby at home and take a break and get out for short while. no question is dumb; that is how you learn; continue to ask - we all did the same when we were a new MOM. Congratulations.

Do you own an infant carrier or a convertible car seat? An infant carrier is made for infants only and can only be placed rear facing in a car. Plus it can only hold a baby around 22 pounds. A convertible seat can hold an infant and then go to a toddler seat which can go at least 40 pounds.
Personally, I bought an infant seat and loved it because you can put the infant carrier right on top of most shopping carts. Then my son grew out of it and could not sit up by himself yet, so I have to use the stroller now. This seems to work well, because I have storage under the stroller to carry may stuff that I'm going to buy.

There is never a dumb question from a first time mom or a mother of 3. dont ever think that. the car seat fits right into the front toddler seat the bottom of the car seat (where it is kind of curved) should go right into the seat of the cart. I sometimes bring a stroller and push my baby and carry a shopping basket, or a baby backpack. Some stores have a built in baby seat on the cart, make sure to have a blanket though. and if baby is bottle fed bring into the store the diaper bag with bottles. i love shopping with my baby everone always ahhs over him and says how cute he looks. it feels good to hear others adore your baby. Don't worry it is not hard at all, and the more you do it, the more you get used to it. Most carriers will latch into the cart. It is fine to ask someone for help. I am a very petite woman too and I had so mucht trouble carrying it. You will likely find someone to help you. And yes most grocery stores have carts with an infant seat attached so you just bring the baby and maybe some wipes to clean off the seat and a blanket. Another option is to invest in a stroller or travel system and just take baby in there. Good luck.

My car seat clicked into (check the back of yours it may have a plastic peice that is attached to a spring) the front metal part of a shopping cart where a child normally sits. If you're paranoid, like I was about this, you can always pull that part forward and place your baby in his carrier/car seat in the cart itself. If you have a lot of shopping to do though, you will just have to do the best you can with whatever space you have left in the shopping cart or use the bottom of the cart.
Also....I HIGHLY suggest going shopping immediately after a bottle/feeding. That way there's no having so stop to feed or fussiness. My little girl is 15 months and I still do this. She stays content and either looks around the store or plays with her toys that we bring along. Good Luck!

most carseats for infants have two little things on the bottom that allow it to fasten to the shopping cart when you put it over the seat area. That is how I did it when I took my kids when they were babies. Or you can use the ones in the store but, I had a real problem with doing this because they are very unsanitary. If you use them take some sanitary cleaners with you and wipe it down really good before you put your baby and there blanket in them.

i have seen this done 2 ways, some people put their baby carseat right in the basket of the cart, and then there is the seat for a toddler to sit in, well, open the seat up and just sit the carseat in it facing you and it should fit, make sure you give it a tug after to make sure its on there safely, you don't want the baby falling out now, take care and I hope this is helpful....

you can put her facing you in the child seat holder, or we some times put her car seat in the basket. and the best way to shop is with a infant carrier it keeps baby happy longer. Dont forget to pack a diaper bag and lots of extras just in case good luck!!!!!

there aremany ways. you can drape it across the basket, and it sits nice. You can sit it on the front ( where children sit) and the baby will face you.... or the seat will fit in a standard shopping cart...but that sucks, if you have a lot of shopping to do. if you have a seat that attatches to a stroller, and you have a basket in the bottom of your stroller, you can shop that way too. No one will accuse you of shop lifting..( i dont think) no one has ever minded when idid it!

There are one of two things you can do. Some carts are not fit to have carseats attached to them. Ask an associate of the store to help you. They are usually happy to help.
Second, get a baby backpack, and wear baby on your front. Not only does this give you more space, but it keeps baby close to you. Less people will breathe on her while you turn to look at products.
