If so, anyone got any estimates? 30% less electric to keep a room warm or something? Guesses?

HE** NO.

I own two, and they are very restricted in scope.

In fact they are less efficient than any space heater I've ever owned,, and the issue is in not only heating the OIL, but then having that heat fill an area. The energy used is instant, but the effect is not.

I just bought ceramic element heaters, sold by "Holmes" and they are far more efficient, in that they ARE instant, and allow a fan as well. Certainly they use electricity at a higher rate than CENTRAL may,,, in total, and if you have pets there may be issues, but DO NOT bother with the "radiator" type.

My example is based on an increase of about $40 per month, in my electric bill, over a 3 month period, using the RADIANT appliance.

The big difference between an electric heater and an oil filled electric heater, is that once the oil is heated, it will stay warm longer with less power to keep it warm... An electric heater will heat shut down and heat again... Oil filled will still give off heat even when the heat element is off...

once you confer with the "living house oil-filled heater" are you refering to an oil fueled imperative furnace? most of the responses assume you're evaluating 2 sorts of electric powered heaters. electric powered warmth will be extra powerful, yet fee relies upon on what your software charges in step with kwhr. As an electrician, i'm extra worried about the skill for adverse wiring (fantastically older twine) through sustained operation of this style of massive electric powered load. In my 25 years, each and each and every of the residential electric powered fires i have seen were led to through an electric powered area heater overtaxing living house wiring. A 1500W heater, through itself, makes use of only over the allowed 12A continuous draw on a 15A circuit. through the years, this can reason risky (and severe priced) damage.

I dunno folks. I love mine. They're quiet, no air blowing around and they really warm up a room and keep it warm for a long time.

I keep one beside my computer chair and rest my arm on it mmmmmmm.....
