You've got a formula, C = 5/9 (F-32)

Let's insert the value for F they've given you, F = 14. (14 degrees Fahrenheit is bitterly cold - well below freezing)

C = 5/9 (14-32)

In a formula like this, the first thing to work out is the brackets.

C = 5/9 (-18)

=5 times minus 18 divided by 9

(9 into minus 18 goes -2)

5 times -2 = -10

14deg F = -10 deg C.

Use the same method to work out the multiple choice question.

Good luck and if you don't understand something in school, ask your teacher to go over it again with you

C=5/9(14-32)
5/9(-18)=-90/9=-10

C=5/9(50-32)
5/9(18)=90/9=10

Just do the operation inside the parentheses first (f-32). Take that answer and multiply it by 5, then divide by 9. You should get C) for the second answer. The first one will be less than zero because 14-32 < 0

C=[5/9][F-32]
F=14,C=?
C=5/9*[14-32]
=5/9*-18
=-10
it is -10
none of the choices given are right.

C= 5/9 (14 - 32)
C= -10.08 or -10

C= 5/9 (50-32)
C = 10.08 or 10

F= 14

C= 5/9(14-32)
C= 5/9 (-18)....DIVIDE 9 INTO 18
C= 5 X -2 =-10

F=50

C=5/9(50-32) PLUG IN THE FORMULA
C=5/9X18....OK YOU'VE GOT IT FROM HERE

f=14
c=(14-32)*5/9=-10c

f=50
c=(50-32)*5/9=10c

answer is C) 10c

substitute your value for F into the equation, such that

C = (5/9)((14)-32) = (5/9)(-18) = -10
