I take a birth control shot so I don't have a period. I wake up in the middle of the night with these cramps hurtting too. I thought it might be period cramps but since I have had these cramps for a week or more I am not sure that is what it is. What could it be?

You can have pretty severe cramps after eating simply from trapped gas in the intestines. Have you tried taking something like Gas-X to see if that helps relieve the cramps?

See your doctor right away regarding these symptoms. Theses symptoms are uncommon side effects of birth control and they may not subside on their own.

You describe them as cramps, but however, they may be severe abdominal pain which are rare but require immediate medical attention. Theses pains are often related to thrombophlebitis or a thromboembolic (blod clots), coronary artery disease, or stroke.

Birth control pills, however, are a great way to preventing pregnancy, but few women quickly realize their disadvantages. You should begin to think about another form of contracetion (preferablly abstinance or condom) and talk to your doctor because the pill may not be right for you.

Hope this answers you question!

Are you moving your bowels as normal? Are you eating a VERY high fiber diet? I'm assuming these cramps are in your abdomen as opposed to higher in your stomach. It sounds like a digestive problem, due to location and time frame. See your Doctor, make sure it's nothing to worry about! Be Well!!
