I receive scams like that about every 3 or four weeks. If you didn't enter the sweepstakes or buy a lottery ticket, you can't win.

did you ever remember entering a sweepstakes? most official ones would call you since you would have entered your information, etc.
Also, where is it from? Have you ever heard of the company or group sponsoring it?
How much are they promising you as the prize?
Not important. It's a scam.
When you deposite the check, they're going to get your bank info. If you call the number they'll know what yours is. They know your address already, hopefully not your name. How much more would they need to steal your identity or destroy your life? Not much.
If you're so curious, they gave you a number to call. Unless it's a 900 number, consider calling (but someway they can't trace you, like a payphone, or *67 from your cell) just for kicks. But it's just not worth it to humor their scam.

is it from a canadian company????? a coworker got one last week and it's a total scam. if you sign that check and cash it, it's actually a loan agreement...then you'll be stuck with a loan at outrageous interest for money you no longer have. you honestly need to turn it in to your post master at the post office.

Don't do it! This is just a way for them to get your bank info when you deposit the check.
