I've always plucked my own eyebrows. And I much prefer a more natural look. That is, like a cross-section of an aircraft wing, with the area near the nose wider and gently tapering to wear the brow arches at a 45 degree angle, then tapering to a point.

When I was 14 years old and first decided that I needed to pluck my eyebrows, I drew an outline of the shape I wanted with an eyeliner pencil. Then I plucked those hairs that were located outside the shape I had drawn.

The shape of my brows hasn't changed much since then, except for a little refining over time.

I absolutely despise the thin pencil lines that some women give themselves. And although bushy brows looked good on Audrey Hepburn, I'm not her, so I avoid that look as well.

Well, before you pluck, you need to decide what you want your brows to look like. Are you plucking just to neaten up your natural eyebrow line, or plucking to create an arch, are you plucking to thin out your brown, are you plucking to rid yourself of a unibrow etc. etc.

After you decide what you want, I would visit a drugstore and purchase some of the brow plucking guides. These are small adhesive strips that are essentially a template. They help you to see which brow hairs lie outside the desired shape. You don't have to buy one of these to do a good job, but sometimes they are helpful if you are a first time plucker.

Err on the side of caution: You can always pluck more hairs, but you can't put them back. So, pluck a little, stand back, and view what you have done.

Some basic guildlines for a good plucking are:
1. The inside end of your brow should apprx. line up with the inside corner of your eye (it can be slightly longer, but it should not be any shorter than this). If it is any shorter, you will look like you have gone pluck crazy and will be missing part of an eyebrow (oopsy).

2. Any arch you decide to pluck into your brow should appear over the outer edge of your iris. If you put it somewhere else is tends to look silly.

3. The outer edge of your eyebrow should end (if you have naturally bushy/long brows) just a little bit (1/4 inch) past the outer edge of your eye.

Happy Plucking.

P.S. If you pull your skin taut before you pluck, it hurts far less. Applying an icecube to the plucked area afterwards cuts down on swelling (if you get any, I don't).

find a picture of someone's eyebrows that you like. keep in mind that it helps if this person has the same shape face as you do, as well as the general same shape eyebrows as well.
start small. only pluck one hair at a time. you'd be surprised how badly you can mess up your eyebrows by pulling out three or four hairs at one time. don't pluck from above unless there are just some strays. be conservative, if you want to pluck a few more after a couple of days, go ahead and do it, but don't over do it the first time, eyebrows make more of a difference than you realize. good luck!!

find a brow shape that will suit ur face. then use an eyebrow pencil and draw out the shape over ur eyebrows. take note of the thickness. start drawing from the top of the eyebrow (the side that is nearer to the forehead, not the part nearer to the eyelid). look in the mirror and ensure that both side is balanced before u start plucking the excess that is not lined with the pencil.

Well, you can make an outline of the hair you dont want to pluck and the then pluck the extras. Be areful though because one mistake of the worng pluck and your whole eyebrow is messed up. ( to make it not hurt as much try lotion before plucking)

take the shape of your eyes into consideration... the arch of your eyebrows should follow that shape. have an idea of what you're doing before you start plucking or you may end up with uneven brows. also, if you're not sure how much to take off, leave it and ask someone for their opinion! you can always pluck more, but they take weeks to grow back...

i can tell you how 2 begin, and then your on your own.. put your pointer finger above the bridge of your nose, between your brow's.. any hairs under that finger would look better gone.. i seen some eyebrows plucked 2 far away from the bridge.. take your time and cry a lot, because it will sting at 1st. : )

i did my eyebrows myself, and they look really good.
here's what i did:

- find a pic of someone's eyebrow that you like (and will match)
- STUDY it... i'm serious... look at it closely
- get tweezers (that work well)
- pluck one hair at a time
- try to do both at the same time; since it'll be harder for you to match the other one
- don't "finish" your eyesbrows in one day; wait and see where you need to pluck more
- see the shape in your head, and if ou over plucked, it will grow back.
- fill in the hair you don't have (yet)
- trim!
- pluck out little hairs once or twice a week after shower (pores wider)

GOOD LUCK! xDD

best is to go to a salon then keep up on your own but ... don't pluck too much from the inside corner then gradually thin out from there so the arch is deeper. best thing to do is take the tweezers hold straight up on inside corner, pluck the ones that fall outside of there. then hold tweezers diagonally across center of pupil, that's where you should start arching. thin it at end of brow. don't make them too thin. also use tiny scissors to trim them to look more professional.

You can get it done to get the shape and then just pluck the stray hairs. Intrestingly though, someone told me bushy/thick eyebrows are in rather than thin. O.o;
