I'm looking for a good American Sign Language DVD for my 9 year old son. Any suggestions?

I not sure, but, Michigan State University have something you may use; http://commtechlab.msu.edu/sites/aslweb/browser.htm
It will want to install Quick-Time if you not have it, you can install or if you click "NO" it will run in Windows Media Player, or it does for me, but, every-time you want to see an word it do this, so, you may want to install Quick-Time.
