I've had to do this. Rather than give dates and so forth, I described him. I said things about him and his personality, then gave examples. I used it as an occassion to celebrate him, and after I was done, I introduced others who had something to offer, and then asked for anyone else to contribute. Quite a number did, and in the same spirit I made my presentation.
I'm sorry about your friend, truly. Help celebrate him, his life, and comfort his family.
My best to you.

Kenny, come straight from the heart and be real. Remember some of the good and bad times, that u worked thru. It will warm the families heart if u be real and tell them what a great friend they were to u and what made them ur friend!!!! Best to u and I am sorry for ur loss.

I'm sorry about your friend, but what exactly is your question? Are you asking what to say?
