it depends on what part of florida you are in i think but i was in the pan handle. You can go to a Job Plus office and they will help you apply for it or just go to the child and family services building. You can apply for food stamps medicaid and TANF or cash assistance. But be worned you must have no income for TANF. If you are only getting child support and you apply for TANF they will take your child support to pay for the cash assistance. Even if your child support is more than what TANF will give you. Like in my case i was getting $288 a month for child support and TANF would only give $148 a month. In order to get that they wanted to take my $288 and only give me $148 so in that case it didn't make sence to get TANF. Also if you do end up getting TANF they require you to do comunity service to recieve it. In my case i would have been required to do 40 hours a week of comunity service to get $148 a MONTH. So be sure you ask your social worker lots of information. Things they will need for you to apply is social security cards for you and child/children birth certificates for all proof of income either last 4 pay stubs or a form filled out from someone not in your house hold that can verify there is no income. You will probably also need to show proof of residencey which would be an electric bill or lease/deed in your name. If you are living with family members they may need to sign a form stating that they are not supplying you with food or cash that way the food stamps is based on your family size and not effected by other family members income. Also if you have any children under the age of 5 be sure to apply for WIC. You can apply for that at your local health department and it will supply you with things like milk cheese peanut butter cerials and fruit juice. It helps alot because it pretty much supplies you for the month with those things. and its very easy to get. Hope i was able to help!
