Evolution is opportunity driven. We have evolved to be adaptable to almost any situation so can exploit almost any opportunity so we are unlikely to evolve physically. I believe that we only use a small part of our brains so we may evolve to be able to use more of our potential brain power. However I think our evolution will be in the field of technology and that with our potential brain capacity we will develop more and more technical skills. Actually this is the only thing that makes me wonder if there is actually a supreme intelligence that has set us on this path in order to achieve some purpose that we have not yet found

Evolution can be predicted only by seeing which individuals within the existing population are reproducing.
In the United States and other industrialized nations, women who are well-educated and have careers tend not to have children. Therefore, the next evolutionary step would be that women would be less able to be educated and less inclined to have careers.
To say it more plainly: human women in the future will be less intelligent, and this is likely true of men too, so you'll have a less intelligent human race.
I don't think it will go to the extreme that was foretold by C.M. Kornbluth in the science fiction story, "The Marching Morons."

Evolution is caused by natural selection. However natural selection doesn't really occur for human beings any more as we have no natural enemies other than ourselves. In that respect natural evolution has stopped.
I believe the next evolutionary step will be self-instigated through genetic engineering. People will soon start engineering out 'defects' in the human race such as hereditary diseases and ginger hair.

That is a really good question. Stem cell technolgy, implants, genetic manipulation and evolution. We have changed animals and plants. Could it be that Lazurus will become a reality. Man could possibly live for ever. And all those women complaining about man leaving the toilet seat up, you would be with man to. Hell for eternity! How can anyone possibly come up with an answer? My crystal ball had a short circuit!

There's a whole range of the electro-magnetic spectrum we could be tuning into from an evolutionary point of view. And the combination of frequency variables and the senses is endless.

It is actually believed that there is no evolutionary next step for humankind as all of our 42 chromosomes are in use, so biologists believe that we are at the peak of our evolutionary scale.

It's funny, but the first thing I could think of is that we are not having a 'step', we are having a 'sit'. Like that like in that movie, "Human beings are slowly losing their ability to walk."

As religious beliefs continue to cause conflict and warfare while they drift farther and farther from scientific discoveries about reality, perhaps humanity will finally rid itself of the need to believe in sheer nonsense!
