HgO ------> Hg + O2 at about 400 C

Mg + CuCl2 ----------> MgCl2 + Cu(solid)

Mg, being higly electropositive than Cu, replaces Cu.

I would help cause I'm taking chemistry, but umm I'm getting a D in that class, and I got a 53% on my midterm, so yea I dont wanna mess you up. The good news is that you have two whole days to do the problem!

a) 2 Hg O --> 2Hg +O2

b ) Mg + Cu Cl2 --> Mg Cl2 + Cu (Mg and Cu are bivalent)

I am quite sure for b, less sure for A
