In order for corrosion to get a start , it must penetrate any corrosion shield that has been used to protect the steel or iron.
Then get some swimming pool acid and apply, be very careful. Let it sit for a couple of minutes and then rinse with water. It will start its rusting process. Do this outdoors and you will see the results by the next day.

metal looks old and rusted because of oxidation. and your topic saying "metal" isnt very helpfull. im going to guess you mean iron since thats what most people think of as metal?

if its iron, try leaving it outside for a few years? :P or to go faster try soaking it in a strong oxidizing agent like potassium permaganate. this will also dissolve your hands if you touch it though. maby try bleech. peroxide is a strong oxidizer but the kind you buy at the store is so so diluted it probably wont do anything.

im not sure if this will work but if you took and attached the metal to the positive end of a strong battery and let the negative end discharge to the ground it might oxidize the metal faster.
