i got my husband the BEST baby book ever.. its called pregnancy survival giude... or something like that.... lemme go get it and i'll re answer this question.
But its seriously the best book ever, quite graphic, covers everything from crazy woman hormones, to birth and after birth and blood and goo and tests and prenatal visits and the whole nine yards. But its short and sweet and written like a funny army book. Its really funny.
My clueless husband LOVED it. And he hates reading.

I'd suggest "what to expect while you're expecting." It tells how big the baby is and how its developing at different weeks. Also tells you what the baby can do. Its a neat book. But if he's shocked and not saying he is, but if he's not really interested, you're not going to be able to get him to read any books. Some men, like my ex weren't interested in knowing the details. I hope everything turns out well for the two of you.

I am sure that your boyfriend will get all his experience and knowledge by going through the pregnancy with you. He should go along to a few (if not all) appointments and perhaps a birthing/parenting class. If he is down for reading a book, he should read "What To Expect When You're Expecting", it's written in layman's terms and goes week by week. Believe me, you don't want to scare the poor guy, because, you'll want him to be with you where it counts--in the delivery room!

I have a book "The girlfriends guide to pregnancy, or everything the doctor won't tell you" By: Vicki Iovine. This book explains alot in detail about everything in pregnancy and it will help your boyfriend understand better. It even has alot for the man to read regarding his feelings, fears etc. It's also very funny so he won't get bored.

dont push a guy too hard on having a baby. that is something that he should find out himself. He will read about it so that he can know more about it if he is willing to commit to a baby. if you push a guy too hard to read something they dont want to they will be turned off

Graphic depictions may worry him..
Don't push it too hard - talk to him properly about it.
