The problem with splitting it up is that we might forget what happened the last epsisode (3 months is a long time!) seems stupid to me

I have known about this since the end of season 2/summer of 2006. LOST is doing this to lure their audience. They hope that this will boost ratings when the May sweeps come around at the end of the season. Don't worry, LOST will return in February 2007 with all new episodes airring every week until the season finale in May. I kinda prefer it this way, because I get disappointed when there are repeats, but at least this way, I can sort of take a break for 2-3 months during the hour of LOST and do something else. I have read that people/critics are skeptical of this method, if it will work and they have said that this is a risky move. LOST does promise to go out w/a bang next week to keep its audience wondering A LOT and to ensure that they will return in February. ABC will heavily advertise the return of the show about a month before the show starts up to remind the audience to come back.

Last season, they got a lot of complaints about reruns - a show like that, with a continuing storyline, does not flow well with reruns thrown in the middle. They couldn't do an entire season from the fall to the spring, so they split the season to keep from airing reruns.

So they can promote that new show which is a rip-off of the "Deja Vu" movie. Its an utterly stupid program and I'm not wasting my time watching it. That's why there are other channels and if I can't find anything there - time to read a good book!! Having that turkey on in place of Lost will just make us appreciate Lost all that much more when it comes back on.

they are doing that so its only new episodes and no reruns. they have 16 more shows starting in February, I'm not in favor of the wait either.

I think they wanna give the actors a break, to keep the on screen action fresh, and not let the show down.
