It all starts when the two dolphins who are going to be the mommy and the daddy get together and they become friends in a very special way. Then the daddy dolphin to be starts to take very, very good care of the mommy dolphin to be. After a while, the mommy to be starts to get crabby and sick in the mornings. This usually is a signal that the little baby dolphin is close to getting ready to be born. When the time comes, they (the mommy and daddy, if you quit paying attention) go to a special place and after a while the mommy does some exercises and the baby dolphin *C*O*M*E*S***O*U*T*.
Either that, or like an Arapahoe bride, the female goes off by herself, squats, and squirts the little bugger out.

dolphins are mammals, they have live birth just like human women. (they have a slit underneath of them and their genetalia are inside it) i swam with them in mexico last year and our instructor told us all about it.
