Refuse to get caught up in it. If her feelings are hurt, apologize and move on. If she persists for more, walk away. People like that are emotionally draining. Don't let her make you feel guilty for protecting yourself.

My best friend is the same exact way. I told her that she needed to calm down and stop freaking out. She didnt listen to me until I got mad at her. Then we talked it out and she doesnt freak out as much.

she is your best friend...hum...well theel her she need to calm down...
maby tape some of the times she over-reacts and some time later show them to her and soon she will calm down.
