Blackberries are evil, this plant is reaching it's ugly arms onto my property from my neighbors yard. I need to kill it without killing the other plants in the area.

It's evil i tell you, the arms reach over and then go into the ground on my side and form new plants there, its like an alian. Its the plant from hell!

Put on Jeans, a long sleeve shirt, a face mask, gloves and any other protective gear you feel like wearing to prevent impalement of flying thorns. Next start up your line trimmer and cut back the plants within 1" of the ground (on your side) and cut back any vines that are coming over the property line, but don't go beyond the property line with you trimming. Pick up all of the severed vines and dispose of them in your trash can, and sweep up all of the thorns from any nearby concrete. Now go buy your favorite herbicide (round-up, etc.) in concentrate form, and purchase a bottle of kerosene. Mix the herbicide concentrate with an equal portion of the kerosene and paint this onto the ends of all of the stalks that have roots in your soil. (MAKE SURE THAT YOU LEAVE THIS MIXTURE OFF OF YOUR NEIGHBOR'S VINES.) This will kill the roots of the vines that started on your property. Keep any extra in a labeled jar to use anytime you need to kill new vines. And to help prevent recurrence of vine growth plant a heavy ground covering plant like Nasturtium flowers. You will need to cut back your neighbors vines every once in a while, but make sure that you don't kill the vines, it can lead to some nasty fights. For all of the trouble that you will need to go through to keep your property vine free, Kindly ask your neighbor if during the blackberry harvest they might be willing to fill up a pie crust for you with some fresh blackberries, they make excellent fresh berry pies.

Blackberry spread by underground runners as well, it is quite invasive. One way to prevent the underground spread is to dig down a foot or two and install a permanent barrier made of treated wood or metal that the runners cannot penetrate.

You can treat the above ground foilage with round-up.

And keep at it diligently, also talk to your neighbor if possible to see if the two of you can trim it back so its not invading your property.

clip off the bastards, and pour straight Brush Killer A on the stems. If you have an old syringe, it works well to get precise treatment. \\

I have tame and wild blackberries, I am working to eradicate all of the wild ones, painful, vicious, and really spread.

Take a bucket with Round-up in it. Just dip the ends in it and in a few days it will be dead.
