i ran to Walmart hoping to purchase one. Luckily there was one left but it was 600! i had only brung 560$!

Because Sony knows they can milk the stupid and the impatient for everything they have.
If I even buy the PS3 (I never bought a PS1 or PS2 - *spit*) I'm going to wait at least until Spring. Just watch the price drop to $350 in the spring. Mark my words, it will happen.

Because Sony knows the mass of vidiots will pay anything for only a small leap in performance. After X-mas prices will drop drastically

Because people fall for price-gouging, especially around the holidays. That's why, IMO, Sony twice delayed the release of this product. I don't believe for one second that the final release date just HAPPENED to coincide with holiday shopping season.
A guy I saw interviewed on my local news said he camped out and waited for days for his PS3 because "I wanted to see my kids smile on Christmas Day, you can't put a price on that"....puke. I'm sure those kids will grow up to be wonderful adults.

As has been said a million times, people are stupid enough to spend the money and to get shot to buy anything that is hyped up. Wait a few months and then get one.

The graphics are supposed to spectacular. I'm surprised you found one on sale. Around here people waited in line for weeks to get one. As soon as they went on sale, they were out within a few hours.

A company bought one and disassembled it and discoved it cost Sony about $840 to build it

think that $599 is expensive
us in europe/UK have to wait an extra 4 months +it is £425 which is $804!!!
i would deem myself as lucky to b in america to get is so chep and RIGHT NOW Not 4 months time

because they are actually aiming to make it more of a computer than a gaming system. So naturally it would be more expsnsive. better hardware, higher price. thats the way it generally goes, unfortunatley. wouldnt it be great it it was the other way around...

well that sucks i would have brought 600 cuz its a good thing + u should of checked the price on the enternet 1st it would have been eisier
