I've read on the internet that implantation bleeding is only like spotting and is brown. My question is how can that be confused with a period? I've also read that some people don't know that they've had implantation bleeding because they think it is their period. Confusing! I'm asking b/c I'm having a really weird period. I didn't have any cramps like I usually do and started really light bleeding 3 days before it was due. I say that it is slow flow b/c it takes about 8 hours to fill 1/2 of a pad, but it is red in color. However, last night there was a fair amount of mucus mixed with the blood. Am I implanting or having a period? Just asking for opinions....

I thought I had implantation bleeding as it was brown and "slow" like what you had said, and it was a week before my period was due. But when I got home from work and checked my temp charting I was doing, I could tell that it was an early period due to the drop in my temp.
I think what you are asking is a good question, because I was very curious when this happened to me. Everyone had said that brown blood is better, because it is "old" blood.. Is your period due? If you are around the time that you period is due, I'd go ahead and take a hpt. But I suggest charting your temp each morning before you get up to help you understand your cycles better.

With my last 3 pregnacys I had spotting at the time of implantation. I only had a small amount of blood, it was red. I thought it was my period once I noticed and after using a pad there was no more blood(so I knew it was another baby). If your still bleeding it is likely your period. I'd wait a few days and see if more comes, if not get a home pregnacy test and give it a try.

It can be implantation bleeding, but most women dont get that in the first place.

Its more likely that its just a funny period. If you want, go ahead and take a pregnancy test, then you will have a better idea.
