Tough it depends on the specie, if you look at great horned owls, tough they prefer prey arround the size of a squirrel or a rabit they have been known to prey on items as large as skunks, racoons, porcupines, cats and small dogs, so a fox ,especially a pup could fall into that size range. One thing for sure, if a fox were to approach a great-horned's nest / nestling the parents would not hesitate to attack / kill it, as they have been known to go after humans who dared approach the nest.

I doubt it. A fox is going to weight more then an owl so how could the owl fly away with it? Plus a fox would sure be a lot to eat for an owl.

It depends on the size of the owl and size of fox. It also depends on the species of them as well. If it is a small owl attacking a fox well.... the fox will eat the owl. If it is a Great horned or snow owl then it will take the fox down...maybe,depends on what type of fox. I am not really sure sice I am a child but it depends on specie. Bye for now!

Owls don't kill foxes, even large eagle owls, foxes are far too big and no owl is powerful enough to keep them down. True eagle however are very good at it, that is Aquila's, so not bald eagles or serpent eagles. although large hawk eagles like the Marshall could. We have a few Golden eagles (Aquila Chrysatos) who are very good at knacking up foxes. although we would never use them in a fox hunt with fox hounds. That is a very good way to get eagle falconry banned because stupid people who don't know what they are doing are getting eagles just so they can go out with the pack. We don't believe in that.

I have with my own 2 eyes watched an owl swoop down and carry off a fox!!! This fox was pretty small, a lil bigger than a house cat but I was still amazed. I saw this in the Princevill cemetery in Princeville, Illinois, down by the creek!! The fox didn't put up a fight at all so I'm guessing that the owls weight might have broke the foxes back on impact!!

Eurasian eagle owl ,Great Horned Owl, and the Snowy Owl are one of the few owl species that are able to kill foxes. These are some of the most powerful owls in the world. All these three species have powerful feet armed with sharp talons.
Eurasian eagle owl is the largest and the most powerful of all the owls. Though they do prey mainly on rodents and rabbits, they also prey on animals such as other birds of prey as well as foxes.
The snowy owls have been known to attack large mammals such as wolves and foxes when they are protecting their nests and young. And yes snowy owls have killed arctic foxes while protecting their nests and young, though they may kill baby foxes for food.
The great horned owl is an American relative of the Eurasian eagle owl. It is also a powerful bird of prey. Though rarely they'll attack a full grown fox, they will kill and eat young foxes. Small fox species such as the gray and kit can fall prey to the great horned owl and other large raptors as well.

No. The first owl stupid or desperate enough to attack a fox would be the first owl that fox ate on that day.
