I am a Liverpool fan but I dont think that Riise is the best, although he is definitely up there.
In my opinion the best left-back in the Prem at the moment has to be Leighton Baines of Wigan - and probably Gael Clichy if he can stay fit for a while.

Going forward he's very good and i think he has the best left foot shot for a defender. When he cracks one the goal keeper has no chance what so ever. He scores some amazing goals and he is a steady defender but can't say he is the best. You've had alot say ashley cole but he hasn't been special at chelsea but at arsenal he was brilliant. So going on this season i have to say evra at man u, he looks very good, but that's going on this season.
if you ask me who's been the best over the last few seasons it would be ashley cole at arsenal.

I can't rate him as a defender but when he connects properly he scores great goals. He should be given a stab at Gerrards role, i think he might do better than Gezza at the moment!
Honestly, i don't think he would be the best left-back in the Championship!

No way. He is a tube!! An out and out TUBE !! He couldn't tackle a fish supper as they say in Belfast. The boy is a weakling and a poor defender. OK so he can shoot now and again but in terms of being a good defender, never was, never will be.

No i dont think so. He can hit a ball and gets himself up the pitch, but i think he is lacking in the defensive department. Ashley Cole is far far better, especially at defending!

He is a converted Midfielder, not a left back. He only plays there to give Liverpool some depth there.

no. he has one helluva shot but that doesnt make him a good defender. rather in the Robeto Carlos mould!
i would have to say Ashley Cole cos no one else has really stood out this season

He is the best this season! who else stops players the way he does, or overlap down that wings, or take thumping outstanding shots at goal from the back?
He's all that this season.
