I have a MacBook. It runs both Mac OS: X and Windows. Accidentally, I installed a virus on the the Windows side. Mac was unaffected, while Windows became slower than ever. I ran several antivirus programs, 2 of which picked up nothing, the other founded viruses, but couldn't delete them. I heard that one could some how revert the Windows side (when I didn't have the virus) to origonally how it came on the disc. Does anyone know how to do this and/or if this is a good plan? Thanks. I have certainly learned my lesson on not downloading files on Windows!

I think you might need to wipe the Windows partition and reinstall. That's what most PC users end up doing. Just be glad the Windows side couldn't see the Mac side or it might have messed that up too!

By the way, the lesson IS not to download on the Windows side. While no OS is 100% secure, Windows is like a mom & pop convenience store in the roughest part of a big city compared to OS X's Fort Knox, which is very secure, but not 100%.

Windows restore feature. Make sure you restore it back way before you think you had the virus. Get a virus program (like Norton) that you pay for and not just a free one off the internet. You can download stuff onto Windows just don't open anything that is not from a trusted site and use a antivirus at all times it will catch most of them. Good Luck.

Yes it will work. Virus will still be on the computer. System restore. Install virus program (Norton) and run virus scanner. It will remove virus. She said she couldn't delete them. Do what I say it will work.

If you want to lose all the info feel free to do what they say. That will work too. If you have info you want do it my way.

Mac OS by no potential is going away. You decrease the Mac OS partition and then use Bootcamp to XP into the area freed up. To revert you purely jetison XP and strengthen Mac OS decrease back as a lot as its unique length. i have not put in XP into the partition, yet residing house windows 7 is immediately ahead, certainly i imagine i have even done medialess installs over the community.

I believe you're speaking of the System Restore function that is impotent against viruses. You are best to wipe the drive that Windows is installed on using the Mac OS Disk Utility, then reinstall Windows, if you dare. lol

I dont know the macbook version of windows, but in windows XP, you need to FIRST remove all traces of the virus, or else it will come back regardless of your system restore.

By the way, the lesson to learn is NOT downloading on windows - it is to KNOW what you are downloading and from WHERE. If you dont KNOW what it is, and where it came from, no os in the world is going to protect you. Got it on limewire? Thought so. You did it to yourself, not windows.
