i've been the other friend before... even if you tell her that you like him or even check to make sure that it's ok... it's gonna hurt her.. and more than likely you will lose that friend.. it may seem ok at first but as time passes... you two will drift apart and not be friends anymore... guys will come and go but good friends are hard to find. if you are truely a good friend you won't date the guy... just be friends with him and find someone else... because it's gonna happen you guys will date and break up and if you have lost your best friend to this, then who's shoulder will you have to cry on until you bounce back??? just think about sweetie.. and i hope you make the right choice.

ok try thinking about it this way if you had the boyfriend and broke up with him and your best friend wanted to date him even after you promised each other to stay away from ex-boyfriends how would you truely feel about it?

also it depends on how serious your bf and the guy were if it was pretty serious i'd steer clear of him and find another guy your bf's feelings should come first

If you break this promise that means any promise you make can be broken. But when she starts dating your ex don't get mad, even if you still have feelings. You shouldn't do it. My friends and I have that same promise and I would never think of breaking it.

In this situation it sounds like your best friend or her ex boyfriend will be hurt. Which one would bother you most if hurt? How would you feel if your best friend was dating your ex after she promised not to? Good luck !!

tell your friend that you really like this guy. ask her if it would hurt her if you started going out. don't tell her, ask. if she says she doesn't mind, then great! if she does, than i would respect that and just be friends with the guy. that guy will not always be your boyfriend, but your friend will most likely be around for a while. you don't want to lose her just because of a crush.

good luck!

Consider this. What if SHE gets back together with him? What will they talk about (you) if that outrageous thing happened after you are done going out with him. If you can't handle that possibility, then you need to reconsider. It's better to keep the friend than loose both.

Well...That's a tough one. I think you should just tell your friend before she finds out. If she's that good of a friend then tell her. It shouldn't be a problem if she's over him. Maybe you should ask her who she fancies now just to check. But before u tell her, make sure u do fancey him before! Be prepared for a bit of anger from her but it should be fine. Hope it goes ok!

Tell her the truth about what happened. if it is really over for her WHY SHOULD SHE CARE. Friend discuss things and operate in mutual respect.
