The problem with Tycoon games is that they can get a little repetive sometimes. With that said, I had some good times with Coffee Tycoon and Tabloid Tycoon.
If you want them free, there are ways to get them on certain websites although the legality of this method is of much debate.

PS: Have you tried MS-Dos games? I'm currently hooked on Princess Maker 2 which is an abandonware and is obtained for free online. A little sexist, but it's good fun nevertheless. :)
